Archaeological Museum of Poros
The museum was constructed in the 1960's, in a plot donated by the Koryzis family. The building cannot be extended, unless the Greek State purchases the plot next to the museum.
The museum contains collections of finds from the excavations of the sanctuary of Poseidon at Kalavreia, finds from the excavations of the French Archaeological School in Troezena, collections of funerary stelae, ancient inscriptions and Geometric pottery from Troezena, ancient inscriptions and Hellenistic figurines from Methana and collection of finds from the old excavations at Hermione, including pottery, bronze vessels and figurines.
The most important exhibits of the museum are:
Ionic capital. Idiomorfic ionic capital from the sanctuary of Poseidon.
Clay hydroroe. It has the shape of a lion's head and comes from the sanctuary of Aphrodite Acraia in Troezena.
Decree relief. Found at Troezena.
Decree inscription. Found at Methana.
Base of a statue. Inscribed pedestal base of a statue, found at Methana.
Funerary sema. Archaic inscribed funerary sema, found at Methana.
Geometric amphoras. Found at Troezena.
Votive inscription. Found at Troezena.
Bronze vessels. They were offered to the sanctuary of Poseidon.
Prehistoric vases dated to the Middle Helladic period found at Ermione.
